Q1. Does the Purple Pear Cafe collect user data?
A1. NO. None, nada, zip, squat, zilch. NYET.
Q2. Does the Purple Pear Cafe protect against online harassment?
A2. YES. Unknown users CANNOT speak to you, OR sit with you, without your consent.
Q3. As a band or DJ, how can I showcase my music?
A3. You can create a Band/DJ Event, and then play your own custom music tracks/mixes for all event attendees to hear. While your songs are playing, you can mingle with attendees, and take song requests.
Q4. If I create or attend an event, how do I let others know to join me?
A4. You enable your leaderboard listing, so that friends (or optionally anyone in the world) can see your listing and join your event (unknown users must ask your permission to join). Once your leaderboard listing is enabled, you can also send notices to any, or all, of your friends, challenging them to join you.
Q5. Can I leave the app, and then come back?
A5. YES, just don’t ‘quit’ the app. When you ‘leave’ the app, other users will see that you have left, and will not be able to interact with you. The event music and voices, as well as your mic, will be muted on your device, but the dining room crowd track will still be heard to remind you to return.
Q6. How can I prevent surrounding conversations from interfering with my own conversation?
A6. Usually, this is unnecessary, because the volume of any surrounding conversations will be tapered in proportion to their dining room separation from you (whereas your own conversation will be at full volume). If, however, the conversation from a particular user is still bothersome, simply double-tap their avatar to engage their Cone of Silence.
Q7. Does the Purple Pear Cafe do live streaming?
A7. NO, we do LIVE SELFIES instead, where two users in direct conversation can send newly snapped selfies to one another, and where each can immediately update either selfie, simply by tapping that image.
Q8. Why do I hear synth voices in the dining room?
A8. Three reasons: 1) verbal instructions from the cafe Maitre D, Host, and Server; 2) song announcements from the Band Frontman; and 3) indirect conversation from surrounding users (your direct conversations use real voices).
Q9. Do you offer a ‘free-trial’ version?
A9. NO. The Purple Pear Cafe is FREE FOREVER. Just download the latest version from the Apple App Store, to obtain a full-featured, ad-free, PurplePearCafe app that you can enjoy for as long and as often as you like.
